Old Oaks Country Club

Old Oaks Country Club in Purchase, New York, plays over an 18-hole course with roots in the 1920s. A. W. Tillinghast drew up the original design in 1925, and Charles Alison, working with partner Harry Colt, completed construction in 1927 following Tillinghast's routing and specifications — an unusual pedigree combining two of the classic era's leading design firms.

The property has seen steady improvement since. A 2001 renovation by Ken Dye added yardage and deepened the bunkering, followed by a new irrigation system in 2010 and a maintenance building in 2012. Beginning in 2016, architect Rees Jones led an extensive project that rebuilt every bunker, introduced additional tee boxes to suit a wider range of players, and found more than 200 extra yards from the back tees, stretching the layout past 6,900 yards at a par of 70. Jones also reconstructed the practice range, expanding tee space by roughly half and reshaping the targets.
