About Old Westbury Golf & Country Club

Old Westbury Golf and Country Club occupies land that once formed the family estate of William C. Whitney, where racing stables and prized Angus cattle were kept. The property was sold in 1961 and became the first private country club in Old Westbury.

Course designer Will Mitchell laid out three nine-hole courses on the grounds and converted the estate's Georgian Colonial mansion into the clubhouse, which hosts both casual and formal gatherings. A 187-foot tower, used during World War II as a lookout for enemy aircraft, stands at the center of the property and is visible from throughout the grounds.
