About RaNic Golf Club
RaNic Golf Club in Ithaca is a semi-private club that took its current name in 2020, when the Whittaker family, Sean and Jennifer, purchased the former Country Club of Ithaca and renamed it after their children, Rachel and Nicholas, with the aim of making the club more inclusive.
The club's origins date to March 1900, when Ithaca business figures and Cornell University professors organized it under their first president, W.D. Bancroft, a Cornell professor. Land rented from Cornell on what is now Wyckoff Avenue held the original clubhouse and nine-hole course. The club relocated several times within the Cayuga Heights area during the first half of the twentieth century, moving to Highland Avenue and then, in the 1920s, to Triphammer and Jessup Roads, where an 18-hole layout was built.

In 1958 the club sold part of its land to Cornell and built the present course and clubhouse, along with a swimming pool. The course was designed by architect Geoffrey Cornish. Tennis courts followed in the 1970s.
