About Bath Country Club
Golf in Bath dates to 1925, when a course opened across from Lake Salubria on what is now Route 415. It operated until the start of World War II, when declining membership left the club unable to meet its mortgage and it closed. A second effort, led by Melvin Stewart in 1946, placed a course on the land now known as Upper Maple Heights, but that venture ended in 1948 after the clubhouse burned and the property was sold for housing.

The present course grew from a design by Tom Bonner, a professional from Elmira, and Bath native James Hawk. Only nine holes were planned at the outset, and those original holes make up today's back nine. Much of the construction was carried out by local residents and small Bath businesses, with high school students helping clear stones from the fairways, gradually converting an 80-acre farm into the first nine holes of Bath Country Club.
