Amagansett Golf Club

Amagansett Golf Club traces its origins to the early twentieth century, when the club grew to include two clay tennis courts and, by 1925, a water system sized for eighteen holes — an expansion that would not actually arrive for another seventy-five years. A clubhouse was built in 1932 on ground that now forms part of a member's property, bordering the ninth hole as out-of-bounds.

The Great Depression and then World War II brought the club's first era to an end, and both the land and the clubhouse were abandoned. The property returned to agriculture in the 1950s, when Bridgehampton farmer Whitey Tiska, later a club member himself, bought the acreage and planted potatoes.
