About Clear Creek Tahoe
Clear Creek Tahoe occupies land that was once part of the historic Clear Creek Ranch, a property tied to Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Virginia City since the mid-1800s and used by cattle operations for more than 150 years. The surrounding country is the setting associated with the fictional "Ponderosa" of Bonanza fame. Timber flumes once crossed the land, carrying logs from Spooner Summit to the mines of western Nevada as part of the operation run by Lake Tahoe entrepreneur D.L. Bliss. The Swift's Station pavilion on the golf course borrows its name from a wagon train stop that sat just below the eastern summit of the Sierra Nevada. The property also has an architectural legacy, including the Twin Pines Lake & Ski House designed by architect Julia Morgan.
