Riverside Country Club
About Riverside Country Club
Riverside Country Club sits along the Pecos River in Carlsbad, near the only place in the country where a river crosses itself. The club was established in July of 1946, intended as a gathering place where ranchers and oil men of southeastern New Mexico could socialize and play golf. The riverfront land was donated by entrepreneurs Albert and Alice Carter.
The southwest-style course has a long tournament history, including the 1973 New Mexico Open and LPGA events in 1965 and 1967. Players such as Tommy Bolt, Julius Boros, and Byron Nelson have competed here.
The club's final nine holes were built by Ray Hardy and his crew, with construction completed in 1981.
