About University of New Mexico North Golf Course
The University of New Mexico North Course dates to 1942, when it opened as a 27-hole layout and became the first course in America to measure more than 7,000 yards, stretching to 7,300 yards from the championship tees.
Its early history includes Albuquerque's first professional tournament in 1947, won by Lloyd Mangrum, the 1950 NCAA Championships, won by Fred Wampler, and the 1953 International Jaycee Junior Championship, won by Al Geiberger. Arnold Palmer, JoAnne Carner, Johnny Miller, Kermit Zarley and Babe Didrikson Zaharias are among the notable players who have teed it up here.

Today the course plays as nine holes measuring 3,333 yards. The character of the original design remains intact, with narrow fairways framed by mature trees that add both scenery and difficulty.
