Desert Lakes Golf Course

Desert Lakes Golf Course is a public course set at the foot of the Sacramento Mountains in Alamogordo. Williams & Gill remodeled the layout in 1996-97, adding four sets of tees for a range of playing abilities.

The front nine plays as a tree-lined, parkland-style stretch with large greens marked by subtle contours, while the back nine, known as the desert nine, is carved from the southern New Mexico desert. The two halves contrast in character but share the same large, gently undulating putting surfaces. Water hazards figure on eleven of the eighteen holes. The area's climate allows golf throughout the year, with summer highs in the 90s and mild winters.
