Hackensack Golf Club in Oradell, New Jersey, features a classic layout in the design tradition of Macdonald, Raynor and Banks, with strategic bunkering and greens that reward precise approach play.

Among its notable holes is the toughest on the card, a long par 4 that asks for a tee shot toward the left center of the fairway bunker and an approach to a green ringed by sand and divided by a central spine. A short, reachable par 5 plays into the prevailing wind, tempting longer hitters to carry a cross bunker on the right in two, while a safer line right leaves a short approach to a back-to-front green with a false front.

The course also includes a "Biarritz" template par 3, a hallmark of those architects. Its green runs 70 yards deep, with a deep swale separating two plateaus; with the pin typically on the rear level, players can fly the ball all the way back or land short and run it up.
