About Newton Country Club
Newton Country Club is a private 18-hole club in Newton, New Jersey, founded in 1915. The course was originally laid out by English professional Herbert H. Barker and later reworked by William Gordon, with additional contributions attributed to Donald Ross, Devereux Emmet and William Flynn. The result is a classic, walkable layout set in the rolling countryside of Sussex County.
Measuring 6,315 yards to a par of 70, the course suits a range of playing abilities while retaining its traditional architectural character. Its place in state golf history includes hosting the 1921 NJSGA Amateur Championship.

The club supports an active golf community, with men's and ladies' associations running leagues, tournaments, clinics and member-guest events. It serves as the home course for Newton High School and Pope John XXIII Regional High School, and a youth membership program encourages younger players.
