About Green Knoll Golf Course
Green Knoll Golf Course opened in 1960 as the first course operated by the Somerset County Park Commission. It was designed by William F. Gordon, whose other New Jersey work includes Rockleigh, Princeton and Oak Hill.
The layout rolls across gently changing terrain and measures 6,443 yards to a par of 71 (36-35) from the back of four tee sets. Water comes into play on the fifth, sixth, eighth and 15th holes. The round begins mildly with a moderate par five and a short par four before moving into the stretch from the third through the ninth.

The par-four eighth doglegs right and brings two creeks into the equation. The first winds so that it threatens both on the right and straight ahead, prompting many golfers to take less club from the tee rather than run through the fairway. The second crosses roughly 20 yards short of the green.
