About Exeter Country Club
Exeter Country Club traces its golf back to 1889, making it one of the oldest courses in the United States. Its nine-hole layout sits at the Jady Hill site, where members of the Exeter Gun Club were already playing golf by that year on a course then known as Eddy's Links.
Documented club history records a formal organization in 1895 under the name Exeter Golf Course, which became Exeter Country Club in 1900. A long-repeated local tradition holds that the course was the second founded in the country, though that claim has never been verified and is generally considered inaccurate.
