Firethorn Golf Club

Firethorn Golf Club occupies land in Lincoln that was assembled beginning in 1978, when roughly 270 acres were acquired for a residential development that would include a golf course as an amenity. Between 1979 and early 1982, utility infrastructure went in for home sites along what is now the front nine, with open space set aside but little attention paid to the golf holes themselves.

That changed in 1982, when Pete Dye walked the property and agreed to design the course. Although 180 acres had already been earmarked for golf, Dye concluded that another 35 acres were needed to realize the routing.
