About Arnold Golf Course
Arnold Golf Course traces its origins to 1960, when Charles Beshaler purchased a building from Bert and Blanche Troyer following the closing of their Pleasant Hill Store, located about ten miles northeast of Arnold. The structure was relocated to the east edge of town and opened that year as the Arnold Country Club, with Ken and Fern Russell serving as the first managers and Al and Arvilla Atkins taking over in 1966. In 1972 a new layout was established southeast of the cemetery on roughly 75 acres set aside for golf by Darrell and Patricia Crow, whose family has continued to lease the ground to the Arnold Golf Club.
For its first decades the course played to sand greens with no irrigation. Grass greens arrived in 1997, with the underground irrigation system, fairway work and green construction completed entirely by volunteers and funded through donations. The course reopened in 1998 free of debt.
