Black Sands Golf Course

Black Sands Golf Course in Beulah, North Dakota, features a stretch of holes where wind direction plays a large role in scoring.

The course's toughest hole by handicap is a longer par 4, bordered by out of bounds along the right and trees down the left; the right side of the fairway leaves the most open approach. The first par 3 on the layout also shifts in difficulty with the wind, and the center of the green is the safest target.

The 4th hole calls for a blind tee shot uphill into a dogleg right. Cutting the corner offers a measure of risk and reward, while a conservative shot to the top of the hill leaves roughly 150 to 175 yards into the green.
