About Old North State Club

Old North State Club is a private club set on a two-and-a-half-mile peninsula along Badin Lake, on land known as Uwharrie Point. The course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 1991, taking its name from North Carolina's historic nickname.

A renovation completed in 2023 by McConnell Golf aimed at playability, conditioning and sustainability while preserving Fazio's original design intent. The bentgrass greens were converted to TifEagle Bermuda for more consistent year-round surfaces in the region's summer climate, and every bunker was rebuilt using Capillary Concrete to improve drainage. Selective tree removal reopened the original sightlines, and work on cart paths and tee boxes added roughly 160 yards to the overall length.
