About Carolina Golf Club
Carolina Golf Club occupies the rolling terrain of a former dairy farm in Charlotte. The course was conceived by Mrs. H. J. Dunavant, who after her husband's death in 1929 set out to turn the family land into a championship layout. She engaged Golden Age architect Donald J. Ross, and the result was the first 18-hole public course in the greater Charlotte area.
In 1958 a group of regular players purchased the club and took over its management, making it private. They replaced the original log cabin clubhouse, which stood near the present 14th green, with a mid-century modern building on the hilltop above today's 18th green.

After nearly five decades with few changes to the design, the club added 43 adjoining acres in 2004 and began a four-phase restoration master plan led by architect Kris Spence. Between 2005 and 2007, two new holes were built on the added land, two holes were converted into the practice range and short-game area, and a dam created the lake that supplies irrigation.
