Black Mountain Golf Club
About Black Mountain Golf Club
Black Mountain Golf Club runs quietly through the town of Black Mountain, with holes set among trees and shaped by the area's elevation changes, giving each one a tucked-away feel rather than the openness of a resort or country club layout. Length is not the course's chief defense; the traditional routing places tee boxes close to the preceding greens, making the course as practical to walk as to ride, and the surrounding mountain scenery is a feature of the round.

The opening hole is a par 4 that plays straight uphill, where a tee shot just right of center can catch the slope and feed left to level ground, leaving an uphill approach to a deep green with a fall-off on the left. The first par 5 asks for a drive carried over a creek to the right side of the fairway for any chance of reaching in two, with bunkers flanking the green; in dry conditions a shot played short can be bounced on.
