Stock Farm Club

Stock Farm Club sits on land in Montana's Bitterroot Valley with deep ranching roots. In 1864, Irish immigrant Marcus Daly passed through the valley while prospecting and wrote to his wife of his intention to return and build a horse ranch. Daly later became a Montana copper magnate and a significant figure on Wall Street, and in 1888 he made good on the promise, establishing the Bitter Root Stock Farm on 22,000 acres along the valley's eastern slopes. He also founded the town of Hamilton to support his ranch workers, laid out several broad roads, and completed the Daly Mansion in 1912.
