About Anaconda Hills Golf Course
Anaconda Hills began in the 1920s as a nine-hole layout with sand greens, built as an employee course for the Anaconda Smelter Company. The City of Great Falls took it over in the 1970s and installed grass greens, and a second nine opened in 1992.
The 18-hole course plays to a par of 69 and measures just under 5,700 yards from the back tees. The original front nine is hilly and lined with trees, with small, sloping greens; the 2nd and 4th are long par threes and the 9th an uphill, narrow par five. The newer back nine crosses hilly ground with ravines, natural rough and water protecting its larger greens.

Though short, the layout rewards accurate tee shots and solid putting over distance, and multiple sets of tees allow it to be played at a range of lengths, including by beginners.
