About Mississippi State University Golf Course
The Mississippi State University Golf Course in Starkville serves as the home facility for the university's PGA Golf Management program, the men's and women's golf teams, and the Golf and Sports Turf Management program. Brian Ault, ASGCA, was hired in 1985 to design the 18-hole, 6,972-yard championship layout, which opened in 1986.
The design mixes approachable holes with more demanding ones, and the routing asks for a wide range of clubs over the round. Water hazards are in play on nine holes. Holes 6, 12 and 14 are long par 4s framed by large, mature pine trees and out-of-bounds stakes, making them the stiffest test on the course.
