About Pete Brown Golf Facility
Pete Brown Golf Facility opened in 1947 as Jackson Municipal, a course known locally as Muny. It was later called Sonny Guy Golf Course before being renamed in June of 2019 in honor of Pete Brown.
Brown, a Jackson native, got his start in golf as a caddie at the municipal course. He went on to turn professional and became the first Black player to win a PGA-sanctioned event.
The layout measures close to 6,700 yards from the blue tees, with wide fairways and light rough. A driving range is available for practice.
