About Hattiesburg Country Club
Hattiesburg Country Club plays as an 18-hole, par-72 layout that rewards shot-making, with fairways framed by tall pines and routed over rolling terrain. The course was reworked in 1999 in a redesign by Max Maxwell and Nathan Crace, ASGCA.
The club has a long tournament history, hosting USGA qualifiers, State Amateur Championships and State Opens. From 1968 through 1993 it was home to the PGA Tour's Magnolia Classic, originally staged the same week as The Masters, which drew players early in their careers or outside the Masters field. Champions there included Craig Stadler, Roger Maltbie, Russ Cochran, Jim Gallagher Jr. and Payne Stewart, who claimed his first Tour title at the club in 1982. Nick Faldo also competed at Hattiesburg during his career.
