About The Refuge Golf Course
The Refuge Golf Course is an 18-hole public course in Flowood, originally designed by Roy Case and carved from roughly 200 acres of wetlands. More than 500,000 cubic yards of earth were moved to shape the lakes and creeks that define the property, and the layout combines rolling terrain, wide tees and open fairways with gently contoured greens.
The course was renovated under golf course architect Nathan Crace, ASGCA, of Watermark Golf, and reopened in the spring of 2021. The work produced a more playable routing with three new holes and nines that both return to the clubhouse, along with TifEagle hybrid bermudagrass greens, new and rebuilt bunkers, and irrigation upgrades. The Refuge also uses the Longleaf Tee System developed by the American Society of Golf Course Architects Foundation, which expands the tee complexes to suit a wide range of playing abilities.
