Swope Memorial Golf Course
About Swope Memorial Golf Course
Set within the wooded terrain of Swope Park, Swope Memorial Golf Course is a municipal layout in Kansas City. The course first opened in 1915 and was completely redesigned by architect A.W. Tillinghast in 1934. A historic restoration completed in 2025 returned the holes to Tillinghast's original design intent.
Carved through the trees, the layout is tight and strategic, with rolling fairways and undulating greens that place a premium on shot placement. From its elevated ground, the course offers sweeping views of the downtown Kansas City skyline, while the sounds of the lions at the neighboring Kansas City Zoo carry up from below.
