Chillicothe Country Club
About Chillicothe Country Club
Chillicothe Country Club sits next to Simpson Park on the north side of Chillicothe and has been in play since 1923. The layout is nine holes with 18 tees, with yardages changing on the second loop to vary the round. Greens are bent grass built to USGA specifications, while the fairways are bluegrass, long and tight. Seven sand bunkers and two ponds factor into play.
A concrete cart path passes the clubhouse and lounge at three points, making both easy to reach during a round. Private tennis courts stand at the east end near the entrance.

The club began as a six-hole course on land held by the Chillicothe Fairgrounds Association, where horse barns, a racetrack and grandstands once stood. Golfers maintained the grounds in exchange for their use. After a committee bought the property in 1921, a golf professional from the Kansas City area laid out the nine-hole course that, with later alterations, remains today.
