About The Bridges Golf Course
The Bridges Golf Course traces its origins to 1920, when it opened as the nine-hole Winona Country Club, designed and built by the club's first golf professional, Ben Knight. The club was among the founding members of the Minnesota Golf Association and has hosted several Minnesota state championships over the years, most recently the 2001 Men's Amateur Championship.
Expansion to eighteen holes came after members approached architect Robert Trent Jones in the mid-1960s while he was working on Hazeltine National. Jones surveyed the property from the air and produced a preliminary routing, and land for the additional holes was donated by William and Lois Christensen. The present eighteenth hole, designed by Joel Goldstrand, came into play in 1994 and made room for a practice tee area.
