About Walnut Creek Country Club

Walnut Creek Country Club traces its origins to 1955, when the original owners built Farmington Country Club at Haggerty and Twelve Mile Roads in Farmington. The club hosted the Michigan PGA Championship in 1961 and the Michigan Open in 1961 and 1962, and was renamed Farmington Hills Country Club following a member vote in 1982.

Road widening along Haggerty and Twelve Mile in 1983 prompted the membership to look at relocating. After plans for a nearby move fell through, the original property was sold off in parcels and in 1987 the club acquired Godwin Glen, a 27-hole course in Lyon Township, along with an adjoining parcel of more than 89 acres for future expansion. The club took its current name later that year.

Architect Arthur Hills was subsequently brought in to redesign and renovate the layout, and the North Nine opened in 1995, making it an Arthur Hills signature course. The private club has continued to make course and facility improvements over the years.
