About Great Oaks Country Club
Great Oaks Country Club sits among the rolling hills of Oakland County in Rochester, Michigan. The land was once a Black Angus farm owned by Rochester businessman Howard McGregor, and it was purchased by the Slavik family in 1968 for development. The club opened in 1971, using the McGregor Mansion as its clubhouse; the oak trees lining the drive to the building gave the club its name. In 1989 the mansion was replaced by the present 43,000-square-foot clubhouse. Today Great Oaks is a member-owned, family-oriented private country club.

The golf course was designed by architect William Newcomb. Renovation work following the membership's master plan was carried out by McCumber Associates, first in 2006 and again in 2019. The club has hosted qualifying for the Michigan Amateur as well as the Michigan Ladies Amateur.
Beyond golf, the club supports tennis through a summer suburban league program and runs a swim program.
