Pilgrim's Run Golf Club

Pilgrim's Run Golf Club in Pierson, Michigan, traces its origins to Robert and Judith Van Kampen. The couple spent most of their adult lives in the Chicago area, where Robert worked in financial services as an entrepreneur, before moving their family to Grand Haven, Michigan, in 1993.

Robert Van Kampen was a Christian who studied and wrote about the Bible, served as a church planter, elder and teacher in his local congregation, and collected rare and ancient copies of Scripture. Among the works he admired was The Pilgrim's Progress, the allegory written in the 1600s by the English preacher John Bunyan, who began the book while imprisoned for refusing an order to stop preaching. The club takes its name from that classic, and each hole on the course is named for it as well.
