Ella Sharp Park Golf Course

Ella Sharp Park Golf Course sits within a 562-acre public park along the Grand River in Jackson, Michigan. The surrounding terrain shifts from fairly level ground to rolling, hilly sections, giving the course a varied setting. A golf learning center is also part of the park grounds.

The park traces its origins to Ella W. Sharp, who left her farm to the City of Jackson to be turned into a park, supported by a trust from her estate. She died in November 1912, and the Jackson Common Council accepted the bequest in January 1913. A three-member board of trustees established the property boundaries in 1914 and hired Winiford C. Trout to design the park; working with Fargo Engineering Company, Trout began development of the roughly 530-acre former farm in 1915.
