About Sweetgrass Golf Club
Sweetgrass Golf Club is one of two courses at Island Resort & Casino in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, just outside Escanaba, where the resort offers 36 holes in total. Designed by Michigan architect Paul Albanese, the course opened in 2008.
The layout is open and parkland in character, with a varied set of green complexes that includes Redan, Biarritz, island and double-green designs. Strategic holes are a feature throughout, among them the island green at the 15th, while each nine closes with a par 5.

The course also reflects the heritage of the Hannahville Indian Community: holes are named for traditional Potawatomi clans, villages, allies, medicines and symbols, tying the design to the surrounding landscape and local history. Sweetgrass hosts the Island Resort Championship, a Symetra Tour event on the developmental circuit leading to the LPGA.
