Harbor Point Golf Club
About Harbor Point Golf Club
Harbor Point Golf Course ranks among the oldest courses in Northern Michigan, with local records indicating that a rudimentary layout was already in play on the site by 1896.
The club took formal shape in 1899, when Alexander F. Stevenson of Chicago joined with other Midwest investors to form a stock company that acquired the land and developed the course. The 18-hole layout was designed by David Foulis, a member of a well-known St. Andrews golfing family, and it has remained an 18-hole course ever since.
In 1941 the Harbor Point Association assumed control of the property, and the association continues to manage the course today.
