Gracewil Country Club traces its origins to 1929, when the first nine holes were carved out of a family fruit and dairy farm in Grand Rapids. The original farmhouse served as the first clubhouse, and the course grew as the number of golfers increased. In 1960 the club incorporated and constructed a new clubhouse.
That building was destroyed by the Palm Sunday tornado of 1965, and friends, neighbors and regular players pitched in on the clean-up before it was rebuilt. A further remodeling of the clubhouse was completed in April 2000.
The course remains owned and operated by the Wilson family, continuing a line of stewardship that stretches back to its farmland beginnings.
