Grand Beach Golf Course
About Grand Beach Golf Course
Grand Beach Golf Course is a nine-hole layout in the Village of Grand Beach, a lakefront community in Michigan's New Buffalo Township known for its white entry gates, broad green lawns, sandy beaches and tree-shaded streets.
The course dates to the early 1900s, when Floyd R. Perkins bought 600 acres of dunes in the western part of the township. An initial plan for a shooting preserve gave way to the idea of a resort community, and Perkins and partner George Ely formed the Grand Beach Company, adding more land that brought with it four miles of shoreline. Along with roads, bridges and waterworks, the partners built the nine-hole course to serve the area's growing tourist trade.

Development followed quickly: residents purchased 20 Sears and Roebuck cottages in 1907, and by 1911 the village counted 48 homes.
