Escanaba Country Club began as a nine-hole layout and was expanded to 18 holes through a renovation completed in 1991. The two nines play quite differently: the front nine follows a more classical, tree-lined routing, while the back nine opens up, with water in play on six of its holes.
The closing hole is the course's best-known test, measuring 428 yards with an approach played entirely uphill to a green sitting roughly 40 feet above the fairway. That green is also the most severely contoured putting surface on the property.
The golf course, along with the bar and restaurant, is open to the public seven days a week, with meals served in the dining room.
