About Maple Brook Golf Course
Maple Brook Golf Course in Charlotte, Michigan traces its origins to 1926, when the club's board of directors commissioned architect Tom Bendelow to lay out the course then known as the Charlotte Country Club.
Bendelow was a widely traveled Chicago-based designer who served as director of golf course development for A.G. Spalding, routinely traveling the country's rail lines to plan courses. His golf résumé also included caddying for Harry Vardon at the 1900 U.S. Open and working as a rules official at the 1904 Olympic Games, the last occasion golf appeared in the Olympics until modern times.
