About Brookwood Golf Course
Brookwood Golf Course opened to play in 1965, founded by Joe and Maxine Hess. It began as a nine-hole layout, with the front nine added in the early 1970s. The rustic clubhouse is a converted 1930s-era barn, originally shown at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair as an example of a modern dairy facility.
In 1992 the course was purchased by George and Joe Thomas, a father-and-son pair of PGA professionals, and it has remained in the Thomas family for more than 30 years. Joe Thomas, a PGA professional of over three decades, is a golfer and instructor. George Thomas served as a club professional for more than fifty years, earned Master Professional status, and is a member of the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame, having competed in two U.S. Opens, a PGA Championship, five U.S. Senior Opens and eight PGA Senior Championships. He also coached the Notre Dame men's and women's golf teams for over fifteen years.
