Huron Breeze Golf Club
About Huron Breeze Golf Club
Huron Breeze Golf Club traces its origins to 1982, when a group of local businessmen, frustrated by how far they had to drive to reach a course, floated the idea of building one in Au Gres. The informal conversation turned into a shared project.
Seeking guidance, the group wrote to the National Golf Foundation describing the plan and received a list of roughly eight golf course architects. From that list they chose William Newcomb & Associates of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Newcomb visited Au Gres to discuss the proposal and recommended beginning with a feasibility study to establish whether the area could support a course. The group raised the money needed to carry out the study, and after reviewing the findings Newcomb determined that the project was workable.
