Lake Forest Golf Club

Lake Forest Golf Club occupies 176 acres in the Ann Arbor area, much of it land that was farmed as a dairy operation for many years. During construction, existing wetlands and ponds were preserved and substantial new water features were added, serving both as hazards and as habitat for fish and wildlife.

The two nines contrast sharply. The front side plays in a more open, links-inspired style, while the back turns heavily wooded with tighter fairways. Despite a flat appearance from the road, the property carries a notable amount of topographic variation. Five sets of tees bring the water and other hazards into play for a range of skill levels, with the back tees offering a markedly different test on several holes.
