About Alpena Golf Club
Alpena Golf Club offers two distinct styles of golf within one round. The front nine retains an authentic 1930s design, with generous landing areas, mature trees and comparatively small greens.
The back nine, designed by Warner Bowen, takes a more contemporary approach: longer holes, larger contoured greens, and wooded rolling terrain dotted with several ponds.
The result is a varied but playable layout. Holes that tend to draw discussion afterward include the demanding 287-yard par-4 fourth, the heavily bunkered 125-yard par-3 fifth, and the scenic 402-yard par-4 seventeenth, a tight hole framed by tall trees along both sides of the fairway.
