About Province Lake Golf Course
Province Lake Golf dates to 1918, when Joseph Emery — a Dover, New Hampshire native who served as president of Lord & Taylor in New York and summered at the lake — built a nine-hole course along the shoreline with friends and business associates. The original layout was designed by Lawrence Van Etten, whose other East Coast work included a course at Deal Country Club in New Jersey and the original Wykagyl course in New Rochelle, New York.

A second nine, designed by East Coast architect Brian Silva, opened in 1988. Although shorter than the front side, the back nine plays tougher, with tighter fairways, smaller landing areas and added water hazards.
Further changes have followed over the decades, including improvements to the irrigation system and the layout, along with renovation of several of the property's original buildings.
