Va Jo Wa Golf Course
About Va Jo Wa Golf Course
Va-Jo-Wa Golf Course sits in Island Falls in northern Maine, on land that once served as cattle pasture. It was established in 1965 by Vaughan Walker, a dairy farmer and logging contractor, and its name combines the first names of Vaughan, John and Warren Walker. The course remains family-owned and operated, with several generations of the Walker family involved.
The 18-hole, par-72 layout measures 6,190 yards and is set up for a range of skill levels. The front nine winds through a valley beside Pleasant Lake, with Mattawamkeag Lake nearby on the other side, while the back nine climbs to a plateau with wide views of Mount Katahdin and the surrounding hills and valleys.
