About Brunswick Golf Club
Brunswick Golf Club traces its beginnings to the summer of 1898, when Bowdoin College students J.H. Henry and Benjamin L. Furbish, along with professor Harry C. Emery, played the first rounds on the ground that now forms the club's back nine. Organized that September as the Bowdoin Golf Club, the group began with 20 members, among them original course designers and later club presidents Charles L. Bowker, Capt. George Skofield and Col. George L. Thompson.

Growing local interest led to the name change to Brunswick Golf Club in 1901, and the first clubhouse went up two years later on the hill behind what is today the 17th green, with reported views of the White Mountains to the west and Casco Bay to the east.
The original nine was redesigned in 1921 by architect Wayne Stiles with his apprentice John Van Kleek, and that routing still shapes the character of the back nine.
