About Piney Branch Golf Club
Piney Branch Golf Club sits among the rolling hills of northwestern Baltimore County, in the rural countryside around Upperco, Maryland. The club has hosted members and guests for more than six decades.
The surrounding area, once called Arcadia, was settled in the late eighteenth century by German Lutheran farming families, with records at nearby St. Paul's Lutheran Church reaching back to 1794. The landscape was shaped by family farms, unpaved roads and the wooded streams, or "branches," running through the hills.

In 1963, local farmers Thomas Shilling, John William "Bill" Tracey Armacost and Fred Eberling joined together to build a course on land they owned at the headwaters of Little Piney Run, the stream that gave the club its name. The 206 acres were exchanged for stock, and the original Piney Branch Corporation was established in 1964.
