Fore Sisters Golf Course takes its name from founder Donald Moran's four daughters, with the golf term "fore" standing in as a pun. Moran, an athlete and businessman raised in Western Maryland, established the course with a focus on supporting the surrounding community, and has been involved in local causes including a scholarship fund and the building of the Western Maryland hospital.
The course remains open to the public and is intended to stay that way rather than convert to private membership. Over the years it has hosted charity tournaments for organizations such as local Lion's clubs, Rotary clubs and Western Maryland Health Services, and it continues to accommodate outings that benefit area communities.
Set against the green slopes of Dan's Mountain, the course sits roughly 20 minutes from Cumberland, Maryland and Keyser, West Virginia, and about 30 minutes from Deep Creek.
