About Queenstown Harbor Golf

Queenstown Harbor Golf is a public facility in Queenstown, Maryland, within driving distance of Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Annapolis. It comprises two courses laid out along the Chester River, with fairways that open onto broad water views. The bunkers have been renovated to adjust both playability and challenge, and the courses are open to the public throughout the year, accommodating a range of skill levels.

The property carries a long history. The land was originally known as "My Lord's Gift," granted in the 1600s by Cecil Calvert, the second Lord Baltimore, to his surveyor Henry deCoursey in recognition of his service. According to tradition, deCoursey pressed his thumb onto a map and received all the land beneath it, which is how the tract came to be called the "thumb grant" for centuries afterward.
