About Woburn Country Club
Woburn Country Club dates back to 1923, giving it a long history in the local golf community.
The club has ties to the growth of the game in the area. Woburn High School began offering golf instruction as early as 1937, with club professional Johnny Thoren teaching some 80 enrolled students in the school gymnasium under coach Tim Ring. Among the golfers associated with the town, Ernie Doherty stood out as the state's leading junior player from 1940 through 1943.
