Woods of Westminster Golf Course is a family-built, family-run course set on land in Westminster, Massachusetts.
Its origins trace back to the late 1980s, when Paul Bartkus and his son Dan sold the family chicken farm and took jobs on the greens crew at Nashawtuc Country Club in Concord. The work sparked Dan's interest in course maintenance and design, and he went on to earn a degree in Turfgrass Science and Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
In 1992 the Bartkus family bought 225 acres in Westminster with the intention of building a course of their own. Around that time Paul's grand nephew, Edvardas, emigrated from Lithuania to help with the project, and the three worked together to create the course. Early tournaments were played when the cart paths were still unpaved.
